Pride Hikes: VYCC

LGBTQIA2S+ hikers (and birders) are gathering for a late-summer outing at Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC). VYCC’s 400+ acre campus is a combination of many things – conserved forests, organic vegetable farm fields, and training space for hundreds of Corps Members. The trails take you through the farm, up to a ridge, then across the property and back down again. You’ll see lots of interesting trail work, including stone stairs, bridges, and drainage structures, that have been built over many years by many Corps Members. Please register in advance using the button on the right of the screen.

All ages, allies, and families welcome! Youth under 18 years should be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Pets are very welcome if they are leashed.  Animals/pets are NOT allowed inside the lobby or Conservation room. All owners must clean up after their pets.

Trail/accessibility information: Our walk will be at an easy pace and will cover less than 2 miles. The trails are a mix of surfaces, from farm roads to rocky narrow trails, and old logging roads. The trail climbs from VYCC (several hundred feet), traverses across the property, and then descends on the other side above the farm. Walking the full loop might take between 30 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes depending on the speed of the group. There are additional trails that can also be explored, which are out-and-backs from the main trail system. More information about VYCC's trails is available here: https://www.vycc.org/about/visit-our-campus/

Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring snacks and plenty of water! Gender inclusive indoor bathrooms are available inside the West Monitor Barn.

Note: There may be produce to buy at the farm stand if you're interested! Cash or card works great.

If you require accommodations or have questions about accessibility, please contact Audubon Vermont at sarah.hooghuis@audubon.org
