Pride Mo(n)th

  • Green Mountain Audubon Center 368 Main Road, Huntington, 05462, VT

A night of mothing, owling, and enjoying a fire with community.

Happy Pride Mo(n)th! In lieu of a Pride Hike this month, we're inviting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to the Green Mountain Audubon Center in Huntington for a fun night of nature exploration and sitting around the fire! The Green Mountain Audubon Center is run and cared for by Audubon Vermont staff - it's a beautiful property with 255+ acres of forests, meadows, wetlands, and riparian areas. Our center also serves as a demonstration site for bird-friendly habitat work.

During the event, we will attempt to bait moths in order to admire and ID them, listen for owls, visit the Beaver Pond in hopes of a spotting a beaver, and enjoy refreshments around the fire. This event is not a hike, we will walk wide, mostly leveled/flat trails with options to hang back at the fire.

Please feel free to bring something to roast or cook over the fire! Audubon will provide materials for s'mores, hot dogs, and lemonade. If you bring something we just ask that you please write a list of ALL ingredients on a notecard to be placed next to your dish so folks with food restrictions and allergies can eat safely.

Participants should bring a headlamp or flashlight, comfortable walking shoes/boots, bug spray, and any layers you might need to be cozy.

This event is an affinity space for the queer community - folks of all ages welcome, however anyone under 18 should be accompanied by an adult. Leashed dogs welcome.
