Teaching for Tomorrow: Winter Webinar Series

New Hampshire Environmental Educators (NHEE), Vermont Education & Environment Network (VEEN), and Upper Valley Teaching Place Collaborative (UVTPC) are teaming up for the Teaching for Tomorrow: Winter Webinar Series, offering educators in New Hampshire and Vermont a diverse range of professional development opportunities, covering topics from environmental science and sustainable education to AI tools for time management, all aimed at empowering teachers to engage students and create impactful learning experiences both indoors and outdoors. Participants will earn 1 hour of professional development. Thanks to the generous support of the Squam Lakes Association and presenters this series is FREE and everyone is welcome.

All workshops will be held on Zoom from 3:15 - 4:15 PM Eastern Time.

Thursday, January 16th - Community Snow Observations by Sarah Sallade, New Hampshire Educator

If you're an educator who enjoys connecting students to nature, engaging them in meaningful science, and using citizen or participatory science, then you might be interested in the Community Snow Observations (CSO) project!

Thursday, January 30th - Discover Envirothon: Engaging NH & VT High School Students in Environmental Science by Margie Clark-Kevan, NH Envirothon Program Coordinator, and Lucas Goldfluss, VT Envirothon Coordinator

This workshop offers new and prospective Envirothon coaches an overview of the NH & VT Envirothon programs, with opportunities to brainstorm strategies, ask questions, and explore ways to overcome challenges when starting a team.

Learn how to streamline tasks and create time for any outdoor, place-based, or nature connection project.

Tuesday, February 18th - Gen:Thrive Drives Change with Data by Daniel Ramirez, Gen:Thrive Senior Manager

Explore how you can get involved in this collaborative initiative that provides shared data and technology tools to accelerate sustainability education and advance health, equity and climate resilience in K-12 youth and schools.

Monday, March 10th - Empowering Student Leadership with Claude by Dr. Aaron Cinquemani, Greentime.ai

Use AI to support student-led initiatives, such as pollinator gardens, water conservation, or other place-based endeavors while engaging with diverse community perspectives to promote equity.

Thursday, April 10th - Exploring Local Climate Solutions with Perplexity by Andrew Powers, PEER Associates

Guide students in uncovering community history, natural assets, and innovative solutions through inquiry-based activities like citizen science, climate resilience projects, or whatever other project you and your students dream of.
